#0 DON BURNISON

The late Don Burnison of Grants Pass, Oregon, or 'Burny,' as he was commonly known as is considered the sports 'Legend' from his dominance in the 60's & 70's racing the famed #0.  Burnison won 8 'Boatnik' Cups (1965, 67, 68, 73, 74, 75, 76, 79) including 4-straight on the long marathon course of the Rogue River in Grants Pass through Hellgate Canyon and treacherous Dunn Riffle. He claimed 5 Championships in 1973, '74, '75 ,'76, & '77. But had the series implemented a Club Championship prior to 1972, many feel he would have won more. He does hold a record of 16 consecutive race wins. Burnison passed away in 2017.
